Which visit should I choose?
Choose the visit that matches your main concern. If you are unsure between a written assessment and a live video visit, live video is the better choice for pain and for new or complicated problems. If what you submit is not enough to answer your question safely, you are not charged for the written assessment, and Dr. Rashid will explain what is needed next.
How much does an online podiatry visit cost?
Written assessments start at $69 and live video visits start at $89. Every visit has one flat, published fee, listed in the visits and fees table above. There are no membership fees and no insurance billing.
Do I need a referral?
No. Because visits are self-pay, you can book directly without a referral from another doctor.
Can a podiatrist diagnose toenail fungus online?
Often, yes. Clear photos and your history are usually enough to identify the likely cause of thick or discolored toenails. Several conditions can look like fungus, so before oral antifungal medication, confirming the diagnosis with a lab test of a nail sample is often recommended. If testing is needed, Dr. Rashid will explain how to arrange it.
Is an online visit as good as seeing a podiatrist in person?
For many foot and ankle problems, your history, photos, records, imaging, and a guided self-exam provide what is needed to make a plan. Some problems need a hands-on exam or procedure. If yours does, you will be told clearly and given a plan for next steps.
Can you prescribe medication?
When appropriate and permitted, non-controlled prescriptions are sent electronically to the pharmacy you choose. Virtual Foot Doc does not prescribe controlled substances, including opioid pain medication.
Do you take insurance?
No. All visits are self-pay. You receive an itemized receipt and a superbill, which you can submit to your insurer to request out-of-network reimbursement.
Can my child be seen?
Yes. Patients of any age are welcome. A parent or legal guardian must be present for the entire visit for patients under 18.
What if I need an in-person exam, imaging, or testing?
Some problems need hands-on care. If that is the case, you will be told clearly and given a plan for next steps.
When are live video visits available?
Live video visits are scheduled Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm Central time. Written assessments can be submitted at any time.
I live in a covered state but I am traveling. Can I still have a visit?
Only if you are physically located in California, Texas, Florida, Missouri, Hawaii, New Hampshire, or Vermont at the time of the visit. Please schedule for when you are back.
Is this for emergencies?
No. If you have a medical emergency, such as a cold, pale, or blue foot, rapidly spreading redness with fever, or a serious injury, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
